Canyoning is vertical. A guide sets each pitch. You wear a helmet and a harness, walk and swim between drops, and rappel where the rock asks for a rope. Jumps are offered only at pools the guide has checked that morning. You can refuse a jump and use the rope.
The commercial gorge days reachable from Ubud sit in the wet highlands around Gitgit, not in the Campuhan valley. Water level decides the exact line, so the pin is confirmed close to the date. Bring closed shoes you can sacrifice to the river, and expect to be fully soaked.
How the session runs
Step 1
Early departure
The drive toward Gitgit and the Buleleng highlands takes most of two hours from Ubud. South Bali hotels should add more time.
Step 2
Kit check
Harness, helmet, and shoes are checked against the sizes you sent.
Step 3
Descent
Rappel, swim, slide, and optional jumps. The guide chooses the line from that morning’s water.
Step 4
Walk out
A short exit hike, then dry clothes and the drive back. Treat the rest of the day as recovery, not a second sport.

- Closed shoes or canyoning boots with a strap, plus the shoe size in the form
- Swimsuit under clothes that can be ruined
- A change of clothes and a towel for the car
- Any shoulder, knee, or back limit written in the notes
