Riders on a village road, helmets on, beside a stone gateway. This is the Pejeng cycling trip. Photo: Village cycling ride.

Pejeng sits just east of central Ubud, which is why this ride stays quiet while Tegallalang is in traffic. You pedal dikes and lanes, stop at a family compound, and see carving work if the studio is open. The guide rides with you and sets a pace families can keep.

Pickup from Ubud and the south Bali hotel strip is already in the price. Nusa Dua, Uluwatu, and Candidasa add $13 for the longer car. Self-meet in Pejeng is also fine if you are already on a scooter.

How the session runs

  1. Step 1

    Hotel pickup

The car collects you. Bikes are waiting in Pejeng, not in the hotel lobby.

  2. Step 2

    Fit and a flat test

Saddle height, brakes, and a two-minute roll before the dikes.

  3. Step 3

    Village loop

Rice, lanes, a home visit, and a carving stop when the workshop is open.

  4. Step 4

    Lunch and return

You eat, then the same car takes you back.

Bring

  • Closed shoes or sturdy sandals
  • Sunscreen and a hat you can wear with a helmet
  • A light layer if you start early

Worth adding in the notes

  • Say if anyone is under 150 cm so we send a smaller frame.

Who it suits

Families and anyone who wants a slow village morning with lunch.

You want mud and an engine. Book the ATV.

Ages: About 8+ on their own bike. Younger children can ride a tag-along if we confirm one is free.

Meeting point

Pejeng village, east of Ubud. Riders who self-meet get a pin. Everyone else is collected from the hotel.
